The Aurora Forecast 3D is a tool designed to locate the aurora in the sky from any point on Earth. It provides a 3D rendering of the Earth with customizable rotation and scaling features. Users can select specific locations and establish personalized ground-station lists. The tool offers real-time updates of Earth's illumination by the Sun, with short-term forecasts up to +6 hours and long-term forecasts up to 3 days in advance. These forecasts are refreshed when the app is active and connected to the internet.
The Aurora Compass, included in the tool, indicates the positions of the auroral oval, the Moon, and the Sun as seen from the viewer's location. It also visualizes the phase and age of the Moon within the compass. By zooming out in the 3D viewport, users can view satellites, stars, and planets in their respective orbits around the Sun.
Features:
- 3D view port of Earth.
- Solar illumination of Earth and the Moon.
